    What Is Special?

    YOU are special!

Elmhurst College’s intimate scale promotes respect for diversity. Nobody gets lost in the crowd here; everybody counts. This is what makes learning at Elmhurst so appealing: it’s about joining a friendly encouraging community of learners where everyone is welcome. Elmhurst consistently ranks among the top comprehensive colleges in the Midwest, according to U.S. News & World Report surveys. If you ask our students what puts Elmhurst on top, you’ll often hear, “the professors.” More than 92% of our faculty hold the highest degree in their fields. But they’re at Elmhurst because they love to teach on a campus where they can work with their students as individuals. Each of our high-quality academic programs combines broad liberal learning with strong professional preparation. Internships, service-learning, and other real-world experiences help make your dreams a reality.Elmhurst looks like a college ought to look: big trees, broad lawns, classic red-brick buildings. The campus is an official arboretum, with more than 600 varieties of trees. It’s a peaceful setting where you’ll feel comfortable. But don’t let the tranquil surface fool you – there’s plenty going on. Elmhurst has more than 80 student teams, clubs, and organizations. Our Jazz Band, Chamber Singers, and Mill Theater are first rate; our award-winning student newspaper has a professional edge. And our International Club welcomes both international and domestic students to its wide range of intercultural programs. We’re large enough to offer a huge range of extracurricular choices, but small enough that you can make a real difference. And we’re just a short train ride from downtown Chicago, one of the world’s most dynamic cities, where our students enjoy unlimited access to world-class cultural and professional opportunities.  And...international students are eligible for internship credit in all undergraduate majors!

YOU ARE SPECIAL AND WE LET YOU KNOW IT!
