      What Is Special?

Academic Excellence: We are proud to be one of the best small public liberal arts universities in the Midwest, and one of three campuses that comprise the world-class University of Illinois. U.S. News & World Report ranks UIS as the top regional public university in the state of Illinois and the second best public university in that category in the Midwest. The College of Business and Management is fully accredited AASCB, a prestigious ranking given to under 10% of business colleges worldwide.

Learning Environment: You will benefit from individual attention in small classes taught by faculty who are dedicated to teaching excellence, scholarship and service as well as innovative approaches to learning. Students are challenged to think analytically, celebrate diverse points of view and excel academically. The average class size is 15 students.

Location: Our location in the state's capital and emphasis on civic education and public affairs means most students leave UIS with an impressive record of internships and real world experience. We provide the opportunities for public and private sector partnerships. We are also home to a comprehensive public policy and leadership institute.
